An office assistant of the Agricultural Knowledge Center Khotang has died in a motorcycle accident. Padam Bahadur Khadka, 55, of Diktel-1, Diktel, died when the motorcycle driven by Dinesh Acharya, 30, of Majhuwagadhi Municipality-7, Rupakot, Diktel, met with an accident on Friday evening.
Khadka was injured when his motorcycle (Province 1-05001 Pa 1764) coming from Dorpa to Diktel fell about 150 meters below the road at Solma along the Mid-Hill Highway. Khadka, who was taken to the District Hospital Diktel in an unconscious state, was declared dead by the doctor, said Prashant Mishra, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Khotang. According to him, the motorcycle driver Acharya was in a state of intoxication and had come to the police himself at 6 pm and informed about the accident.
Mishra said that when the information about the accident came, a search was conducted and Khadka was found unconscious below it. ‘Since the driver was in a state of intoxication, it is not certain when the accident occurred,’ Mishra said. ‘After coming to the police himself at 6 pm and informing, during the search, the rider behind the motorcycle was found unconscious 150 meters below at a place called Solma, and the motorcycle was found stuck in a tree.’
Khadka's body has been kept in the morgue of the district hospital. Mishra said that the driver Acharya has been taken into custody after undergoing medical examination.
