A mobile clinic has been operated in Dhankuta Municipality to provide information on precautions, legal provisions, and awareness to be taken by those wishing to go for safe foreign employment.

A project on safe migration is underway in Dhankuta Municipality in collaboration with international organizations for safe migration and their Nepali partners.

Awareness classes have been conducted in 9 different wards of Dhankuta Municipality and some community schools operating here on the legal procedures to be followed while going for foreign employment, labor approval, basic knowledge about the employer country and the company there.

Teachers, students and their parents have been informed about the amount of money required to go abroad for employment at the mobile clinic, where to file a complaint if they are cheated by agents and companies in Nepal and abroad, who to contact if they are stranded, and the procedure to be followed if legal assistance is needed.

Information has also been provided on various aspects of fraud in the name of foreign employment, including the financial support and compensation that can be received by those who die, amputate limbs and are ill during foreign employment, according to Manju Rai of the Immigrant Resource Center, Dhankuta.

According to the Department of Foreign Employment, 27,183 people have legally reached Malaysia, various Gulf countries and Europe from Dhankuta since 2077 BS. 

Out of the 27,183 people who have gone for foreign employment, 5,402 are women. Meanwhile, 1,142 people have returned home after losing their jobs due to various reasons.
