Leader Binod Dhakal's panel has emerged victorious from the group other than Chairman KP Sharma Oli in the selection of representatives from Morang Constituency No. 6 for the 11th National Convention of the CPN-UML.
In the counting of votes held on Sunday morning, the candidates of the Dhakal faction were elected by a wide margin in all three clusters - open, women and youth.
In the open category, Binod Kumar Dhakal became the candidate who received the most votes by getting 1,527 votes. Pitkumar Shrestha of the same panel won by getting 1,289 votes, Ramesh Kumar Pokharel 1,286 votes and Satyanarayan Chaudhary 1,276 votes.
Minkumar Acharya of the establishment faction, Makar Budhathoki 616 votes, Rohit Koirala 617 votes and Gyanendra Ojha were defeated by getting 551 votes. The Dhakal panel also registered a complete victory in the women's representative category. In which Saraswati Kharel got 1,265 votes and Saraswati Bhandari got 1,158 votes.
They defeated their rivals Rita Neupane by 966 votes and Januka Badtaula by 551 votes. Santosh Ghimire won in the youth quota with 1,118 votes. His opponent Prabin Ghimire got 855 votes.
