119 polling stations will be set up in Dhankuta for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21.
The District Election Office, Dhankuta, has stated that the number of polling stations may increase or decrease even after the finalization of the polling stations. The Election Commission will publish the final list of voters on the upcoming 15th of Pus. Only then will the finalization of the polling stations be announced, said Suraj Shrestha, Acting Chief of the District Election Office, Dhankuta.
Out of the 119 polling stations designated, 54 are general, 49 are sensitive and 16 are on the highly sensitive list, informed Dhankuta Superintendent of Police Sarat Kumar Thapa Chhetri. In the 2079 representative and provincial assembly member elections, there were 162 polling stations in Dhankuta, including two temporary ones.
3,272 voters have been added to Dhankuta for the upcoming elections. In Dhankuta, 1,286 people have registered their names at the office and 1,986 through national identity cards. Including the 3,272 additional voters and 117,100 old voters, the initial number of voters in Dhankuta has reached 120,282. However, the commission is starting the process of updating the voter list and contesting claims from Mangsir 20 to confirm the number of voters.
During the update, deceased and duplicate names will be removed and complaints against false details will be taken, said Suraj Shrestha, acting chief of the District Election Office, Dhankuta. The commission will publish the final voter list on Poush 15.
