Five prisoners who escaped from Jhumka Prison in Sunsari during the protest on Bhadra 10 have been arrested in Dhankuta.
Those arrested from Dhankuta since Bhadra 24 are those convicted of manslaughter, mutilation and drug trafficking cases, who have been sentenced to 2.5 to 25 years in prison by the court.
Sagar Rai, 32, of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-20, Sunsari, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison in the manslaughter case, was arrested from Alegaun, Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality-2, Dhankuta.
Similarly, Ramesh Mangmi Magar of Dharapani, Chaubise-2, Dhankuta, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000 in the manslaughter, rape and theft cases, was arrested from his home while he was hiding, Dhankuta Superintendent of Police Sarat Kumar Thapa Chhetri informed. Yubaraj Rai of Khandbari-9, Sankhuwasabha, who was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison in the manslaughter case, was arrested from Bhedetar.
Similarly, the police have arrested Sizan Tamang of Chaubise-3, who was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison and a fine of 25 rupees in the mutilation case. Similarly, Suresh Shiva, alias Gandhare, 21, of Dhankuta Shahidbhumi-2, who was remanded in custody in a drug case, was arrested from his home. Dhankuta Superintendent of Police Sharat Kumar Thapa Chhetri said that all the five arrested people have been sent to jail.
