They were honored with certificates and dosallas.
At the program, Aathpahariya leaders expressed concern that the language, literature and culture are disappearing. Kirat Aathpahariya Society Central Committee Chairman Ashta Bahadur Chhongden complained that his caste could not be listed in the National Foundation for the Upliftment of Indigenous Peoples. He complained that the state did not show interest in the upliftment of the Aathpahariya community and the preservation of its culture and traditions.
The population of the minority Kirat Aathpahariya caste, whose main base is Dhankuta, is 5,878.
