Dhankuta Municipality has launched breastfeeding rooms at the municipal office and bus park for the convenience of service recipients and mothers visiting public places.
The municipality has stated that breastfeeding facilities have been provided in a safe, confidential and clean environment, prioritizing maternal and child health. Sitaram Gautam, Planning Administration and Monitoring Officer of Dhankuta Municipality, said that breastfeeding rooms have been brought into operation for the convenience of service recipients, female employees, passengers at the bus park and the general public. Gautam said that comfortable seating arrangements, hygiene materials and necessary privacy have been made in the breastfeeding room. An amount of Rs. 950,000 has been spent for the room established in the municipality premises and Rs. 150,000 for the room at the bus park.
Gautam said that this initiative has been taken so that service recipients and passengers can now easily breastfeed their babies while waiting at the bus park during work at the municipality office and during travel.
The municipality has said that it plans to expand such facilities to other public places in the coming days.
