The Khetan Foundation is set to provide a grant of around five billion rupees to support poverty alleviation and infrastructure development in Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality.
It is stated that the amount received from the foundation will be focused on poverty alleviation, development and quality improvement of the education, health and infrastructure sectors of Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality.
The Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding to support poverty alleviation, education, health, infrastructure development, promotion of home-based enterprises and marketing in Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality.
The Foundation has signed an agreement in the presence of Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki to invest five billion rupees within the next five years.
The memorandum of understanding was signed on October 9 by Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality Chairman Manoj Rai and Khetan Foundation Chairman Nirmal Madanman Singh. According to the understanding, the foundation will develop infrastructure, alleviate poverty, build new infrastructure in education and health, operate information technology laboratories in schools and conduct self-employment training programs.
Chief Minister Karki, who reached Piple, the center of Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality, to sign the bilateral memorandum of understanding, said that although a large part of the grant is from the Khitan Foundation, the project will move forward in partnership with the rural municipality and the Koshi Province government.
Chief Minister Karki said that the maximum investment of the grant received from the foundation will be focused on modern school buildings, clean drinking water, libraries, information technology training for teachers and students, and scholarships.
Similarly, Karki said that there is a plan to strengthen the manpower, management of medical equipment, maternal and child health programs, and emergency health services in the health center. Chairman Singh said that although work is being done to improve the school buildings and educational quality here with the support received from the foundation, the scope of work and investment will be expanded from this year. He said that they are focused on making Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality a model.
Under which the Aankhisalla He is committed to starting blacktop on about 20 kilometers of the road from Thalthale to Piple, Chhintang, and Akhuwatar from this year. He said that projects are being selected for additional work.
This understanding is expected to bring a new dimension not only to education, health, and poverty alleviation here, but also to road transportation, religious, cultural, and tourism, says Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality Chairman Manoj Rai. 'Farmers' income is limited due to lack of modern agricultural technology and market access. Due to lack of management, the roads dug up have not been able to connect with the livelihood of the locals,' Chairman Rai said, 'Most of the residents of the rural municipality depend on agriculture.' If the work progresses as per the agreement reached with the foundation, it will contribute to the overall development of the village in the long term,'
The martyrdom ground, known as the much-discussed Chhintang massacre of 2036 BS, is also famous for the names of the Khuwalung and Chhintang Bhagwati temples in Triveni. In that incident, 16 locals who were protesting against the Panchayat were killed. The then three village development committees of the Khalsa area of Dhankuta, Khoku, Chhintang and Aakhisalla, were merged to form the Sahidbhoomi Rural Municipality.
