Ganesh Prasad Nepal, a litterateur and former teacher from Chandragadhi, passed away in Kathmandu on Wednesday at the age of 82.

He had been undergoing treatment at the Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for about three weeks due to health problems including heart and prostate. His son-in-law, Danny Niraula, informed that Nepal passed away at 10:30 am on Wednesday during treatment.

Nepal, who has been involved in the teaching profession since 2028, had taught for about five decades at various schools and Sanskrit universities in Bhojpur, Dharan and Jhapa. After retiring from service in 2071, he became active in literary creation. His published works include Pardeshko Vyatha (Poetry, 2072) and Samayaka Kavita (2080). Guniko Gana (Policy Poetry) was in the final stages of publication. ‘The third work was completed and in preparation for publication,’ said the youngest son and writer Ratnamani Nepal, ‘my father’s wish to see the third work remained unfulfilled.’

Nepal, who was born on 21st Shrawan 2001 in Kot VDC of Bhojpur, had been living in Chandragadhi, Jhapa since the 1940s. He is the father of two sons and three daughters.

Nepal was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat on Wednesday, according to family sources. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and three daughters.
