Floods and landslides cause damage worth over Rs 11.81 billion in Ilam

The floods and landslides that occurred after the rains on October 2 and 3 have caused damage worth more than Rs 11.81 billion in Ilam. Chief District Officer Sunita Nepal informed that various roads, bridges, buildings, drinking water, irrigation, livestock and agricultural sectors in the district have suffered damage worth Rs 11.81 billion.

The District Administration Office has collected the initial damage details from the Road Division, Infrastructure Development Office, Nepal Electricity Authority, Water Resources and Irrigation Division and 11 related thematic offices.

Landslides have caused damage worth Rs 6.96 billion 45 million in 11 different projects under the Road Division. Under the Infrastructure Development Office, 62 roads have suffered damage worth Rs 2.34 billion 65 million, 25 bridges have suffered damage worth Rs 850 million and 6 buildings have suffered damage worth Rs 40 million.

According to the District Administration, HT lines, LT lines and transformers of five projects under the Nepal Electricity Authority have suffered damage worth Rs 24.7 million 35 thousand 952. Similarly, under the Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division, 16 river control projects have suffered losses worth Rs 134.669 million, five landslide control projects have suffered losses worth Rs 17.422 million, and 72 irrigation projects have suffered losses worth Rs 177.159 million.

Similarly, under the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center, 2,520 livestock have suffered losses worth Rs 23.576 million, and 244 sheds and ponds have suffered losses worth Rs 19.754 million. Under the Dhankuta Field Unit Office of the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management, 29 drinking water projects have suffered losses worth Rs 287.5 million, and under the Bhadrapur Jhapa Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, 223 projects have suffered losses worth Rs 281.1 million, informed the Chief District Officer Nepal.

 

Similarly, Rs 274.995,750 has been lost to food and cash crops planted by 3,409 farmers in an area of ​​892.32 hectares under the Agricultural Knowledge Center, and Rs 47.550,000 has been lost to 25 tea gardens under the National Tea and Coffee Development Board Tea Extension Scheme.

Rs 500.800 has been lost to 10 optical fiber and cable under Nepal Telecom, and Rs 329.16 million has been lost to 31 projects under the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project, Gainde Jhapa due to landslides.

The details of the damage have been sent to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the relevant ministries, said Chief District Officer Nepal. 'Initial details of the damage have been collected from the relevant local government offices in the district with the coordination and facilitation of the relevant municipalities,' said Chief District Officer Nepal. 'We have sent the details of the damage to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the relevant ministries.'

39 people were killed and 26 injured in the landslide in Ilam. One person is still missing. 711 families have been displaced in the district due to the landslide. Of these, 700 families are living in relatives' houses and 11 families are living in community buildings, according to the district administration. 365 houses were completely damaged and 940 houses were partially damaged in the landslide in 10 local levels of the district.
