The Koshi Provincial Government has decided to waive fines for transportation services that were suspended during the lockdown period.

The 19th meeting of the provincial council of ministers held on Sunday has taken six important decisions on health, infrastructure, tourism and transport. According to government spokesperson and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Rewatiraman Bhandari, the meeting has decided to prepare a legal framework for the operation of the Shailaja Acharya Provincial Hospital and approve the operating procedures for the hospital's heart disease center. Similarly, temporary posts have been approved in some offices under the Ministry of Tourism, Forest and Environment. Based on the reports of the ministries and subordinate bodies that were damaged during the Gen-G movement on Bhadra 23 and 24, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development has been given the responsibility of proceeding with the repair and reconstruction of damaged structures. The meeting has decided to dispose of burnt or destroyed materials according to the legal process, auction the remaining materials and bring back vehicles that can be repaired. It has also been decided to proceed with the process for receiving insurance money and write off the records of completely damaged vehicles.

Similarly, if a new vehicle needs to be purchased, it will be purchased only after the approval of the Ministry of Finance in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law.

The transport management offices in Itahari and Birtamod were completely destroyed during the Gen-G movement. The distribution of driving licenses was stopped as the servers of those offices were destroyed. According to Spokesperson Bhandari, the distribution of licenses will be resumed after the servers are restored.

Currently, other services are closed in those offices except for limited administrative coordination. Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to not impose fines on expired vehicle documents while the offices are closed. Minister Bhandari said, 'The fine for the closure period will be considered zero and the same period will be extended, which will provide relief to the citizens.'

The meeting has also taken forward preparations to resume transport services from the offices in Itahari and Birtamod.
