Physical Planning and Reconstruction Minister Kulman Ghising visited flood-slide affected Ilam on Saturday.
After the recent heavy rains, the government has declared a crisis area for three months after widespread loss of life and property in various places of Ilam.
Chief District Officer of Jhapa Gopal Adhikari said that Minister Ghising left for Ilam via Jhapa in the morning for on-site inspection of the situation in the affected areas.
Minister Ghisingh is scheduled to meet the flood victims of Ilam 10 Rajduwali and distribute relief. Similarly, there is a program to observe the roads of Rajduwali Road, Mill Ghumti and other areas.
It is said that Minister Ghisingh will reach the affected settlements of Ilam Municipality-10 Rajduwali, Sandakpur, Maijogmai and other affected settlements and understand the status of damaged structures, roads, bridges and relief arrangements with the local residents.
He has promised that the government will provide all possible support to the affected citizens in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction. The government is with the affected citizens. The immediate relief and long-term reconstruction work will be carried forward,' said Minister Ghisingh.
Local public representatives, administrative officers and security personnel were also with the minister's team.
39 people have died in Ilam due to floods and landslides. Dozens of roads have been flooded. Dozens of settlements are at risk and hundreds of families have been displaced.
