Out of 110 km of roads, 54 km have been tarred so far. But the bridge has not been constructed on any river other than the Sanwa River on this road.
Passengers have been suffering due to the delay in the construction of the Tamor Corridor road bridge. When there is a sudden flood in the rivers, the vehicles are stuck in the middle of the road.
It has been a long time since the Moolghat Ganesh Chowk section of Tamor Corridor, an expressway connecting China and India, which is under construction in the eastern hills, has been operating. Out of 110 kilometers of roads, 54 kilometers have been tarred so far. But the bridge has not been constructed on any river other than the Sanwa river on this road. Due to the lack of a bridge, vehicles are stopped before reaching their destination due to sudden floods during the rainy season.
Only a design has been made for the construction of a bridge on Henwa river, which is the most north of Mulghat Ganeshchowk section of Tamor Corridor road. Due to the lack of bridge and diversion on the Henwa river, various wards of Hilihang and Yangwarak Rural Municipality of the district at a short distance from Fidim and travelers going to Taplejung through this road are in trouble. A 40-meter long bridge has been designed to be built here.
The flood has damaged about one kilometer of corridor road in Henwa River. CDI Deepak Jha, Head of Bridge Sector Office, Dharan informed that the construction of the bridge has been delayed due to the need to change the route of the road here.
Swaminarayan Ashirwad JV has taken the contract for the Baghuwa river bridge in Tamor Corridor. Although the period of which will end on the next Baisak 29, the work has not yet started. The length of which is 40 meters.
Swaminarayan Ashirwad JV took the contract and 40 percent physical progress has been seen in Khambuva river bridge. According to the bridge sector office Dharan, there is 38 percent financial progress here. The length of this bridge is 40 meters.
Head of Office Jha informed that 15 percent physical progress has been made in the Raghuwa river bridge, which was contracted by the same construction company. According to him, the period of the contract for the construction of this bridge is also up to the next Baisakh 29th. The length of this bridge is 150 meters. The total cost of Baghuwa, Khambuwa and Raghuwa river bridges is Rs 22 crore 52 lakh 75 thousand 790.
In the construction of the Chharuwa river bridge, which is due to expire on October 27, 50 percent physical progress has been made so far, while 47 percent financial progress has been made. The contract for this work has been taken by Lumbini-Rautaha-Khani JV. Chharuwa river is a very broken river like its name. The length of the bridge under construction is 165 meters. According to Jha, it is the longest bridge to be built in this corridor. The total cost of this bridge construction is Rs 17 crore 23 lakh 79 thousand 540.
Due to the large amount of water, the bridge construction in Nawa River, which is always causing trouble to the passengers, has made only 30 percent physical progress so far. The term of this bridge construction contract contracted by Sharma Sagun JV is till February 12, 2008. The length of the bridge under construction on Nava River is 150 meters. Here, the construction of the bridge pillars has reached its final stage.
However, the same company has not started the construction work in Lakhuwa river and Loripa river, which were contracted to be completed within the same time. The length of Lakhuwa river bridge is 150 meters and the length of Loripa river bridge is 20 meters. The head of bridge sector office informed that the total cost of Lakhuwa, Loripa and Henwa river bridges is Rs 37 crore 21 lakh 53 thousand 640.
Jha says that due to the lack of budget, they have not been able to put pressure on the builders and get them to work. According to him, in the last financial year 2081/082, about Rs. "We have not been able to disburse some of the last year's funds," said the head of the office, "There was a matter of increasing the budget by changing the amount." But it didn't happen as said.'
Due to the lack of budget, the office could not provide the budget to mobilize the contract, so the builders delayed their work. But passengers have been bearing the brunt of it. Especially in Panchthar-Dhankuta Seemavati river, the water flow decreases from March to October. Because of this, the regular movement of vehicles is affected.
