Seven prisoners who escaped from various prisons in the country during the Genji movement have been arrested here. Acting Information Officer of the District Police Office, Pravin Shrestha, said that on August 24, five male and two female prisoners who had escaped from Sundhara Central Prison, Sunsari's Jhumka and Kaski Prison were detained.
Among those arrested are 28-year-old Ruksar Khatun and 28-year-old Eksara Khatun of Gouradah Municipality-5 who escaped from Sundhara prison. After the government issued a notice to the escaped prisoners to return, both of them came in contact with the district police office.
Information officer Shrestha informed that 33-year-old Dinesh Soren of Kankai Municipality-6, who escaped from Kaski prison, was arrested from his home. Locals informed the police that Soren had come home and was hiding.
A 23-year-old prisoner named Navalkishore, who escaped from Nepal and reached Kishanganj in India through the southern border, has been arrested by the Indian police and handed over to the local police office in Kechna. He is said to be an Indian citizen.
45-year-old Bal Bahadur Rai of Kankai Municipality-4, who escaped from Jhumka Jail in Sunsari, has been handed over to the police by his family. Two other prisoners who escaped from Sundhara jail were arrested.
