Urao and Rai were taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan after they had breathing problems. Jailer Niraula said that both people died during treatment.

Chief District Officer Dharmendra Mishra said that 13 people who were seriously ill were sent to the BP establishment in Dharan for treatment. He said that there was no need to panic as the doctor suspected viral fever. According to him, the prisoners living in the B block of the prison are more sick. Block 'A' and 'B' of Jhumka prison with a capacity of 1,600 people are currently holding 1,795 prisoners.
