One person was seriously injured in a fire that broke out while paving the road in the inner road section of Mechinagar-9 Dhulabari.

Umesh Kumar Rai of Lakshmipur Patari Rural Municipality-6, Sirha district, who was engaged in construction work, was injured while extinguishing the fire. According to Jhapa police, his face, both arms and legs were burnt by fire.

He is currently being treated at Virta City Hospital in Virtamod. The fire was brought under control around 9:30 pm with the help of locals, security personnel and the fire department of Mechinagar Municipality.

The construction business company Kanchan Nirman Seva was pitching the road on Monday night in this road section which is being constructed with the help of the World Bank. Locals say that even though pitching is being done on the road at night, it is not being done considering security concerns.

According to a local, the fire could not be brought under immediate control. Because of this, the fire brigade was called and the fire was brought under control. Alaktra's tanker driver Ganesh Dahal of Sindhuli Sunkoshi rural municipality-7 is safe. The tanker is completely burnt. The police said that the work of collecting details about the damage is going on.
