The Federal Limbuwan Provincial Forum has sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, through the Chief District Officer of Taplejung. A memorandum was submitted on Tuesday demanding the immediate implementation of Limbu and Maithili language in the working of Koshi province.
In the memorandum, Province No. 1 is written without writing Koshi Province. In the memorandum, it has been reminded that the Government of Nepal has formed a Language Commission on 23 August 2073 to implement the provisions of Article 287 of the Constitution of Nepal, which states that 'provinces can make the languages within the provinces official languages'.
The Language Commission has submitted a report to the then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on August 21, 2078 with a strong recommendation that Limbu and Maithili should be used by the state government as government functions.
According to the recommendation of the Language Commission, Bagmati and Gandaki have already passed the bill. It is mentioned that it should be implemented as a working language, expressing strong objection to the Koshi state government's indifference to the recommendation. For this, Federal Democratic National Forum and Federal Limbuwan Provincial Forum Nepal have submitted a memorandum demanding to register the bill immediately in the Parliament.
Kumar Lingden 'Mirak, Bhupendra Sundar Lawati, Hangsagar Kerungsiksamba, Umesh Limbood signed the statement and the team including Naveen Pomu, Muksam Labung, Rita Maden of Taplejung submitted it to Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma.
