Koshi Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki and United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) representative for Nepal and Bhutan Ken Simizu had a meeting on Monday.

Chief Minister Karki expressed his gratitude to FAO for providing support in the projects conducted under the Ministry of Tourism, Forest and Environment of Koshi State Government. Also, he asked for support in reducing environmental impact, production, marketing and management of high-value fruits in the Madhyapahari districts of the province.

'If we can move forward by cooperating in fields like agriculture, climate and disaster management, remarkable achievements can be achieved,' Chief Minister Karki said, 'Koshi province is a biologically and geographically diverse province with mountains, hills and plains, it has a lot of potential in the fields of climate and agricultural production.' He informed that there is a plan to establish a liaison office in Koshi province to make cooperation more effective.

He mentioned that FAO is working in Koshi province on biological diversity, soil conservation, reducing the environmental impact of Chure area and promised to continue cooperating in the future plans as well.
