The Koshi state government has released a budget of 35.87 billion rupees for the next fiscal year 2082/83. This is 600 million rupees more than the current financial year.

Presenting the budget in the state assembly meeting on Sunday, Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Ram Bahadur Ranamar informed that the budget has been brought with the goal of inclusive, equitable and sustainable development.

For the next fiscal year 2082/83, a budget of 3 billion 51 million 71 million rupees has been allocated to the health sector. He informed that the budget has been arranged giving priority to health infrastructure development and service expansion. It is mentioned in the budget that Shailaja Cardiology Center in Biratnagar will be upgraded as a specialist hospital. In addition, there is a plan to conduct a campaign called 'My Health, My Responsibility' to increase health awareness throughout the province.

The necessary budget has been allocated to expand mental health services in all hospitals of the province, while 36.1 million rupees have been allocated for the purchase of medicines. An arrangement of 30 million rupees has been made to establish a processing center in Khotang.

The policy of providing free treatment to children under 10 years of age in government hospitals has been included in the budget . In addition, the school nursing health program will be continued, while 30 million rupees has been allocated for the strengthening of state-level labs.

Minister Ranamar clarified that the priority of the budget has been set with the goal of providing accessible and convenient health services. According to the provincial government, preparations are being made to improve quality, access and results in the healthcare sector from the coming year. 

Similarly, 2 billion 18 billion rupees have been allocated in the agriculture, industry and cooperative sector. 16 crore 65 lakh rupees have been allocated for fruit production, processing and marketing. The program will be conducted in collaboration with local potential, local level and private sector. With the aim of providing easy credit to farmers, 140 million rupees have been allocated for interest subsidy on agricultural loans.

22 million rupees will be spent under the Good Animal Husbandry Program to promote quality animal husbandry and control epidemics including rabies. The state government has allocated 2 crore rupees for the establishment of the Chakria Fund and a budget of 2 crore rupees has also been allocated for the Tea Conference project.

A budget of 10 million rupees has been allocated again for the tourism year. Minister Magar informed that a total of 2 billion 97 crore 66 lakh rupees has been allocated for the tourism, forest and environment sectors. Last March, the Koshi government announced that 2082 would be celebrated as the year of tourism by holding a formal program in Tinjure Milke area.
