Police seized the body of a 6-year-old girl from Sipprang, Bhotkhola rural municipality-4, when she was about to be cremated.
On Thursday, the team of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daksh Kumar Basnet of the District Police Office took the body of Unika Tamang, daughter of Gopal Tamang, into custody with an ambulance from Gurung Chowk, Khandbari Municipality-3.
On 30th Baisakh, there was a fight between brother-in-law Gopal Tamang and sister-in-law Kalpana (Gurung) Tamang during a domestic dispute. During the quarrel, Kalpana, the cousin, pushed her niece Unika and she fell from the table and got seriously injured.
Unika, who was seriously injured, could not be treated at Sankhuwasabha District Hospital, was taken to Nobel Hospital Biratnagar for further treatment. According to the police, Unica died on Wednesday, May 7, during treatment at Nobel Hospital.
Police Inspector Abhishek Shrestha said that the bodies taken into custody were kept in the mortuary of District Hospital Sankhuwasabha. The police have arrested Gopal's sister-in-law Kalpana from Bhotkhola-4 Sipprang and brought her to the headquarters Khandbari. District Police Office Sankhuwasabha informed that further investigation is being carried out with Gopal, the father of the deceased, also under arrest regarding the
incident.
