The eight missing laptops were found in the den 16 months later

Out of the lost computers and laptops from Patidanda Secondary School in Maivakhola Rural Municipality-5, Fakumba, eight laptops were found in sacks inside the den.

Among the 11 laptops, four desktops, multiplugs and other devices that were lost from the school on the night of 22nd January 2080, eight laptops were found after 16 months. Three of the laptops were found and taken into custody by the police about three months after they went missing. The police said that they are still searching for the rest. According to the headmaster of the school, Gopal Thakur, the desktop computer, multiplex etc. have not been found and the police have not been able to identify the accused so far.

Headmaster Thakur was advised by Rajan Thaklung, the outgoing chairman of Maiwakhola rural municipality, to take the police and ward representatives as well, suspecting that there were items in that place on May 29. Principal Thakur took the team based on that information and advice. The laptop was found in a hole in the middle of a small forest and kept in a sack.

"There is a stone like a small cave facing from east to west," said the headmaster Thakur, "At that place, a stone wall was placed from the west and covered with a stone from above."

It is the school's understanding that the outgoing president Thaklung was suspicious of the sack and informed the school. When trying to understand more about this matter, Thaklung's mobile was switched off on Friday.

Two months after the disappearance of three laptops, a girl reported to the teacher Shanta Angwohang when she saw that they had dropped them while cutting grass in the forest in the month of February. Headmaster Thakur, who arrived on the basis of the student's information, reported the matter to the police after seeing it thrown away. Teams from District Police Office Taplejung, Area Police Office Dobhan and Police Station Sanghu picked up the items wearing gloves saying that forensic tests should be done.

The district police office assigned police inspector Kamal Lungeli for investigation. According to the teachers and principal of the school, they have repeatedly inquired from the students, teachers and parents. According to the school, no forensic test results have been received on the laptop seized by the police at that time and the laptop has not been returned. They repeatedly requested the school to get a laptop from the police.

Human Practice Foundation (HPF) provided computers with laptops and desktops for conducting ICT classes in the school under the educational quality improvement program. The computer was stolen shortly after it was provided to the school.

Village Chairman Vijay Vanem says that he has requested the Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma and the Deputy Superintendent of Police to investigate this incident seriously and bring the accused to justice.

District Police Office Police Inspector and Information Officer Vivek Basnet claimed that the investigation process has been accelerated.
