When meeting the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, it is now not allowed to carry mobile phones. Chief Minister Karki has decided to prohibit the use of mobile phones for visitors who come to meet him.
According to the Chief Minister's Secretariat, this decision has been taken to ensure security vigilance and privacy. Every visitor entering the Chief Minister's office will now have to keep his mobile phone outside. After this decision, those who participate in the meeting will not be allowed to do any kind of audio or video recording, live broadcast or take photos.
Some people have taken this step of Chief Minister Karki as an initiative to maintain etiquette and dignity in the working style of the provincial government. "Discussions with the Chief Minister include sensitive policies, strategies and decisions, so confidentiality is very important," said Kamal Paudel, the Chief Minister's private secretary, "that's why meetings can only be held with the mobile phone out."
This decision has generated various reactions in social media and political circles. On the one hand, it has been supported as a positive change, while on the other hand, some have interpreted it as a sign of reducing transparency in democratic functioning.
