30-year-old police sub-inspector Antak Khatiwada died when a pick-up van met with an accident at Duhabi Municipality-3 Futani Chowk in Sunsari.
Khatiwada, working at the District Police Office, Udaipur, died when the van number P 2-01-001 f 0251 went out of control and crashed at 11:50 am on Saturday morning while taking household goods from his house in Udaipur. Superintendent of Police of Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Itahari, Sunsari, Vinod Ghimire, said that the driver Suresh Karki, 38, of Chaudandigarhi Municipality-6 and his 14-year-old daughter Rosina Karki were injured in the accident.
Prasani Khatiwada, who was seriously injured in the accident, was taken to Virat Teaching Hospital for treatment and died at 12:21 pm during treatment, police said. The speeding van went out of control and hit the iron railing on the side of the road, causing an accident.
Khatiwada Naranhiti security guard Gulm of Triyuga municipality-8 Rajabas was posted in Kathmandu and was working in the district police office. According to the police, the driver Karki, who was injured in the accident, has injuries on his head, chest and various parts of his body, while his daughter Rozina Karki is out of danger.
