The number of domestic and foreign tourists has increased in the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Sanctuary, famous for deer and birds.
Compared to the past, the number of domestic and foreign tourists in the reserve has increased in the current financial year. Bhupendrasad Yadav, conservation officer of the reserve informed that 8,415 domestic, 66 SAARC countries and 210 foreign nationals visited the reserve from last July to mid-March. According to
Yadav, revenue of 25 lakh 19 thousand 166 rupees has been collected from the number of tourists. Bhupendra Prasad Yadav, senior conservation officer of the reserve, said that the number of tourists has increased since the beginning of winter.
According to the reserve administration, tourists come to see and observe the rare arna found only in Nepal, newly growing rhinoceros, and guest birds from Siberia and other countries. The reserve is home to 520 species of birds.
Lately, the Koshi state government has started various campaigns to attract tourists from neighboring India. Just a few days ago, the provincial government had started a sticker campaign to bring in tourists near the Nepal-India border area of Kosi rural municipality-8 Bhantabari so that Indian vehicles and tourists do not face any inconvenience in the province.
