One person was killed and six others were injured when a Scorpio met with an accident in Katari Municipality-6 of Udaipur under Madan Bhandari Lokmarg on Monday. May 1 Ch 3040 Scorpio, which was going from Chitwan to Jhapa at 4 pm on Thursday, went out of control and hit the iron trust barrier on the side of the road and the accident took place.
55-year-old Madhav Basnet of Damak Municipality-3 Jhapa died in the accident, said Superintendent of Police Hariharnath Yogi of District Police Office Udaipur.
The police informed that Basnet, who was seriously injured in the accident, was taken to Provincial Hospital Katari for treatment and declared dead by the hospital.
In the accident, drivers Devendra Tamang, 38, of Damak-9, Jhapa, Rajendra Prasad Bhandari, 49, of Damak-10, Gyanendra Gautam, 45, of Damak-1, Kamal Shrestha, 54, of Damak-6, Nabin Khatiwada, 38, of Damak-2, and Bhuvan Dahal, 54, of Gauradah Municipality-1 were injured.
The injured are being treated at Katari Provincial Hospital. When the accident happened, a team led by DSP Kamal Bajgai from Ela police office rescued the injured and took them to the hospital. According to the police, the accident happened when the Scorpio was speeding and went out of control.
