A fine of 1 lakh for fishing with current

Sabhapokhari rural municipality has decided to impose a fine of up to 1 lakh for killing fish by using electric current. The rural municipality has decided to impose a fine of up to 100,000 for killing fish by using electricity in Sabha Khola and Langkhuwa rivers, which are designated as prohibited areas.

Sabhapokhari rural municipality vice president Lakshmi Chapagai informed that the executive meeting held on the 21st of Sabhapokhari rural municipality decided to impose a fine of one lakh on fishermen who use electricity in protected areas or restricted areas of Sabhakhola and Langkhuwa rivers.

Similarly, it has been decided to impose a fine of 50,000 on fishermen who throw nets, balchi, gharua, and duwali in the area. Chief administrative officer Buku Prasad Acharya said that the village municipality will collect fines from fishermen with the help of the police administration and 15 percent of the amount will be given as an incentive to the relevant police administration.

Similarly, the rural municipality has decided to provide a 5 percent incentive to those who give confidential information about people who kill in prohibited areas. If the fine cannot be collected, it will be recommended to register a case according to the prevailing laws of the Government of Nepal.
