Nepal Air Service Corporation's TwinOtter aircraft will operate at Suketar Airport, which is closed after being grounded, from next Saturday. The corporation's Taplejung station has said that it has a flight schedule for Saturday morning at 7 am.
Since the last week of last December, the plane has not landed at Suketar Airport. Although Push flew from Kathmandu in the first week, he returned midway due to bad weather. Kumar Gurung of the office informed that as one of the two ships of the corporation has been built, one flight per week has been kept for the time being.
When there were two ships of the corporation, there was a Kathmandu-Taplejung flight schedule for five days a week. "For the time being, there is one schedule per week," said Kumar, "the other one is also being repaired, and there will be more flights later." Regular flights will make it easier for the disabled, sick, and those in need. Apart from Taplejung, passengers from Yangwarak of Panchthar, Hilihang and Atharai Rural Municipality of Tehrithum also come to board the ship from Suketar. Now, to board the ship from Taplejung headquarters, one has to reach Bhadrapur in Jhapa and Biratnagar in Morang. It takes at least eight hours to reach there from the headquarters.
