The construction of a 21 km access road leading to the dam site of the Upper Arun hydropower project with a capacity of 1,063 MW semi-reservoir to be built in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality has started.
Purna Chauhan, the head of administration of the project, informed that 2,100 trees have been cut after acquiring land for the construction of the access road. The construction of the access road has been started by transporting construction materials by helicopter. 413 acres of land has been acquired to build the project.
Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-2 and 4 Ward No. 136.5 million revenue has been paid to the forest department for the cutting of trees in the national forests and community forests. According to Chauhan, the head of administration, the price of the land in that area was fixed at Rs 150,000. According to the development agreement (PDA) during the operation of the
project, even if the trees are cut, the saplings will be planted in another place. The project has already paid 136.5 million to the forest department for planting, growing and growing saplings. A concrete bridge will also be constructed on the Arun River and Chepuwa on the
