After the improvement of the weather, Sankhuwasabha's only airport, Tumlingtar Airport, flew after three weeks. A 72-seater aircraft of Buddha Air took off on Wednesday.
The flight was suspended at Tumlingtar after Jan 14 last year due to a lot of commotion around the airport. The Kathmandu-Tumlingtar flight took off after the snow covering the hills near the airport's runway cleared.
Buddha Air's 72-seater aircraft has been flying in Tumlingtar lately. Navraj Dahal, head of the Civil Aviation Office, said that the flight was operated after the heavy snow cleared. Flight permission is granted after visibility of at least 5 km around the airport. Earlier, the visibility at the airport was only 500 meters when the storm increased. Even though the cold weather has subsided, the weather has not completely cleared.
