Fidim municipality has demanded that a bridge be constructed at Femekhola under Fidim-Falot road. Fidim Municipality has demanded to construct a 'Beilibridge' at the place where the bridge was swept away by the flood that occurred on October 12th and to operate the traffic in the coming rainy season.

Mayor Mitra Prasad Kafle said that despite repeated requests to the state and federal governments, the construction of the bridge could not proceed. The municipality is worried that if the Beilibridge is not built at that location, there will be no road to take patients to the hospital during the rainy season and there will be a food crisis in the affected areas.

In a press conference on Thursday, Fidim municipality demanded to proceed with the construction of Beilibridge as soon as possible. The flood swept away the 25-meter long road bridge of Femekhola under the Fidim-Falot road. After the bridge was washed away, vehicles used to cross the river through temporary diversion.

But if the Belybridge is not built by the next rainy season, the citizens of Fidim municipality-10, 11, 12 and 13 and Falelung rural municipality who use this road will be affected. When it rains, there is a danger that the temporary diversion constructed now will be washed away. As soon as the diversion is damaged, the road communication with Fidim municipality-10, 11, 12 and 13 and Falelung rural municipality headquarters will be cut off.

Fidim-Falot road is being paved by the Koshi state government. The construction of the bridge should also be done by the state government, but the process has not progressed so far. 'The budget has not been confirmed yet. The only response that we have received from the provincial government is that we will also take initiative', Mayor Kafle said, 'Citizens have started saying what the municipality is doing. There was no way that the municipality could build a belay bridge.' Kafle, the mayor of the city, complains that although they have taken initiatives through letters, telephones, etc., the budget for the construction of Beili Bridge has not been arranged.

Mayor Kafle says that the municipality will start construction of the diversion after receiving information from the state and the federal government that the bridge will not be built this year. "If the road is not made, there is no way to bring the sick and the pregnant women," Kafle said. Mayor Kafle said that due to the landslide, health services could not be operated until the building of Lalikhark health post in Fidim-3 and the four-room building of Kafalbote Basic School of Fidim-6 was swept away by the landslide.

The municipality has informed that the branch road damaged by the landslide has been repaired and reconstructed at a cost of one crore four lakhs within the city area. According to Kafle, the first installment of 25,000 has been provided for the construction of temporary housing for 90 houses that were completely damaged by the landslide.
