The families of two prisoners who were killed in the prison due to beatings by security personnel and inmates have received relief and compensation. On 24th July 2080, the families of the victims who were killed by security guards and inmates at the district jail Khandbari received 500,000 as relief and compensation after one and a half years.

20-year-old Prakash Tolangi of Sankhuwasabha Madi Municipality-5 and 28-year-old Akash Balami of Kakani Rural Municipality-7 of Nuwakot, who were serving imprisonment in the district jail, were beaten to death.

Assistant Chief District Officer Mohanmani Ghimire informed that the families of Tolangi of Madi-5 and Balami of Kakani-7 of Nuwakot, who were killed by security personnel and prisoners, have received relief and compensation of Rs 5 lakh each.

Assistant Prazia Ghimire said that although the victim's family demanded relief and compensation of 10 lakh rupees, they received only 5 lakh rupees from the Ministry of Home Affairs. It was seen in the CC camera footage that two prisoners were arrested and beaten by the police on the charge of trying to escape from the prison, and after being brought inside the prison, the prisoners were beaten and tortured.

After the beating of two prisoners, seven policemen and eight prisoners have been remanded in custody for their involvement in the murder. In the bench of District Court Judge Teknath Gautam, on 27 August 2080, seven policemen were ordered to be sent to District Jail, Dhankuta and the prisoner to District Jail, Tehrathum. This case has not been decided even after one and a half years have passed.
