About 400 families will get compensation for free land after 80 percent completion of the 900 megawatt capacity Arun 3rd hydropower project under construction in Makalu rural municipality.
According to the notification published by the District Administration Office on 23rd Chait 2079, the Supreme Court has issued an order on 11th January to give payment within one month. At that time, the district administration had fixed the compensation of 524 ropani land along the 24 km entrance road from Chyangkuti to the power house at the rate of 11 lakh 75 thousand per ropani.
"Arun-3 Power Development Company Limited" immediately deposited 530 million for the victims in the administration's bond account. Nearly 400 families' houses are located at the entrance of the project. Chief District Officer Vinod Kumar Khadka said that a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs following the Supreme Court's order.
On June 22, 2081, it was announced that the work of the tunnel was completed by breaking through the main tunnel of the Arun 3rd hydropower project.
