The five-day 'Dharan Utsav' has started from Saturday on the occasion of 124 years of establishment of Dharan. It was announced earlier that the Dharan festival, which is celebrated on 20th of January every year, will be celebrated for five days this time.

Kaziman Gurung, an 88-year-old senior citizen, inaugurated the festival, which started on Saturday with the slogan 'Ghumn Jaaun Dharan', by lighting a lamp. On the first day of the festival, a cultural tableau has been prepared to promote local culture and tourism. The tableau went around the city and reached Dharan Stadium.

In the celebration organized under the leadership of Harak Sampang, the head of Dharan sub-metropolitan city, various people who have contributed to Dharan have been honored. Educational exhibition, art and literature program, food and flower exhibition and sales hall are kept in the festival. As part of the festival, cycling and literary awards programs are held on Sunday, Eastern Singing Super Star Season-1 and Folk Recitation program on Monday. Publicity coordinator Dinesh Gajmer informed that there is a walkathon, doritan and chelo throwing program on Tuesday.  Gajmer informed that the main ceremony committee and various sub-committees have also been formed for the

festival, with the city chief coordinator and deputy mayor Aindra Bikram Begha as co-coordinators.
