The Kanchenjunga Diamond Festival is going to be held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the human footstep on the Kanchenjunga mountain, which is the third highest in the world and the second highest in Nepal (8,586 meters high). The Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council has organized a three-day festival from 5th to 7th Baisakh.

Organizers have said that efforts will be made to bring the climbers of Kanchenjunga mountain (alive) and their families this year to the festival celebrated in Lelep of Kanchenjunga region. For that, the member secretary of the festival organizing committee, Manakumar Rai informed that the work is being done to collect the details of the climbers and their families.

It is estimated that more than 400 people have climbed the Kanchenjunga mountain in the Kanchenjunga area. On May 25, 1955, British citizens Joe Brown and George Christopher Band successfully climbed Kanchenjunga for the first time. Earlier, in 2073, the festival was held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Nepal government.

The then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated the festival in Suketar. Manakumar Rai, Member Secretary of Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council, Phupuchhevan Sherpa, Treasurer and Sanjeev Neupane, Chief Executive Officer of the Prosperous Hills Program, have been assigned to coordinate this year's festival.

Samradh Pahad is going to give 20 lakh rupees for the festival . According to member secretary Rai, the cost of the festival is estimated at 72 lakh rupees. In addition to honoring climbers, there will be an exhibition of local products, food dishes, a municipal level volleyball competition and performances by artists.
