Rajni Thapa has been elected as the national president of Nepal Jaycees. Thapa won from the 51st convention of Nepal Jaycees held in Itahari. Thapa was elected by defeating her nearest competitor Jeevan Karki by a margin of 309 votes.
In the convention, there was an attempt to select the leadership unanimously, but when there was no agreement, the election was held.
Along with Thapa and Karki, Rashmi Shilpkar, Vijay Gurung, Naresh Chandra Ojha and Sunil Timsina were contesting for the president. There are 5 aspirants for the position of president, but last night there was an election competition between 2 people.
Thapa got 762 votes while Karki got only 453 votes . Ganesh Sapkota, Elina Maharjan, Krishna Sapkota and Saurabh Shrestha have been elected as executive vice presidents.
Vice Presidents Sandeep Khatri, Deepak Adhikari, Dhanraj Kandel, Sujan Thapa Kazi, Sangam Karki, Babita Pandey, Sumitra Bhattarai, Abhishek Dulal, Ujwal Kabra, Subhas Gautam, Raghav Koirala and Maniprasad Aryal have won.
Thapa was elected in the second attempt of Nepal Jaycees and entered as an ordinary member of Jaycees in 2011.
He became Vice President in 2012, Executive Vice President in 2013, Treasurer in 2014, Senior Executive Vice President in 2015, Training Coordinator in 2016, Program Implementation Coordinator in 2017, Business Promotion Coordinator in 2018 and 2019. Manhara has taken over the responsibility of the president of JC . It was said that more than 5,000 people including observers and guests participated in the
convention. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the convention on Saturday.
