The contractor company MRU Sevak, which is building the broad gauge railway from Bathnaha in India to Katahari in Nepal, has left the job for the second time after not getting a working side. Earlier in the year 2023, the construction company had left the work saying that they could not find a side to work on.

The Nepal government will provide 119 bigha of land for the construction of the railway and India's Ircon Company will construct the railway. The deal was made 13 years ago . Due to the compensation dispute in Kathari-1, the place where the railway station is to be built, the construction of the railway has been blocked due to the government not being able to provide 6 bighas of land.

This is the second time that the construction company has left the work because the government has not provided land for the station to be built at Katahari-1 in Morang. For the construction of the station, Ircon awarded a contract of Rs 30 crore to the construction company MRU Sevak Mumbailarya Bharu in 2021.

Director General of Railway Department Rohit Bisura said that the contractor broke the contract and left for the second time after not being able to work even after two years of the contract. All kinds of homework is being done to remove obstacles and provide sides. Bisura said, 'to provide the side within a week and to Ircon  The contractor is being asked to return .'

Physical structure is being built in that section with the help of the Government of India . In this section, the government of Nepal  There is an agreement that India will do the construction of the physical structure after providing the side. It has been 13 years since the construction of the railway line started.

So far, due to the obstacles of the locals, the construction of the station has not even been started. Total gap 18. Out of 6 km, only 7 km has been completed. In some other sections, physical structures have been constructed. Bisura said that the construction company has been leaving the work many times because the locals did not allow them to work at a distance of 1200 meters saying that the compensation was low.

Meanwhile, Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Raghuveer Mahaseth on Thursday conducted an on-site inspection of the route under construction and interacted with the local residents of the blocked construction site. At that time, the locals claimed that the construction work of the railway station was blocked due to the federal MP Amanlal Modi of the same area.

Devraj Choudhary, head of Katahari rural municipality, claimed before the minister that the construction work was blocked because of federal MP Modi. He claimed that although the local administration and the rural municipality tried hard to continue the construction work, due to the instigation of MP Modi, the contractor was forced to leave the work after the locals obstructed it.

24 people including Vishwanath Majhi, Kishore Majhi of Kathari have filed a case in the Supreme Court on June 9, 2076, alleging that the compensation is low, and have been obstructing the construction work.

The chief district officer of Morang, Prem Prasad Bhattarai, said, 'The compensation amount is being deposited in the bank account of all those who file a case in the court within three days . If the work is interrupted even after the amount is collected, the local administration will proceed accordingly. The court has not yet issued any interim order in the case.'

24 people have not received compensation . They have filed a case in the Supreme Court saying that the compensation is low. Director General Bisura said, 'However, despite the written agreement between them and the Railway Department to follow the court's decision and not obstruct the work, the contractor has been obstructed as soon as they have started the work at Katahari. It has been confirmed that the people's representative of the same has interrupted the work by inciting the locals.'

Now, after the completion of the seven-kilometer section from Bathnaha to Biratnagar Customs Yard in India, the Prime Minister of Nepal and India inaugurated the railway in May last year. But the industrialists of Sunsari Morang industrial area have not transported the industrial raw materials through the cargo train because of the high cost of transportation.

On the day of the inauguration, the cargo train that came to Biratnagar Vansar yard with the raw materials of Aarti Strips industry has not returned.
