The Nepali Congress has decided to vote in favor of the no-confidence motion registered against Karnali Province Chief Minister Yam Lal Kandel.
The Congress Karnali Province Parliamentary Party made the decision to vote in favor of the motion at its meeting on Wednesday. Congress and CPN lawmakers had registered the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Kandel at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on Asar 32. The Provincial Assembly Secretariat has included the motion on the agenda for Thursday's Provincial Assembly meeting.
If the no-confidence motion is passed, Chief Minister Kandel will be relieved of his post and, according to the constitution, the process of forming a new government will begin. In the 40-member Karnali Provincial Assembly, Congress has 14 members, CPN has 14, UML has 10, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one independent lawmaker have one member each. Earlier, after four ministers from Congress resigned from the government, the ruling coalition was formally dissolved. Immediately afterward, Congress and CPN lawmakers registered the no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister.
