Deputy Mayor Nilakantha Khanal presented a budget of 4 billion 712 million 72 thousand rupees in the 19th municipal assembly on Wednesday for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/084. Of the total budget, 64 percent, or 3 billion 270 million rupees, has been allocated for development (capital) while 1 billion 683 million 310 thousand has been allocated for current. Which budget is 327 million rupees more than the current fiscal year. A budget of 4 billion 380 million was brought for the current fiscal year.
The budget includes 246 million from the federal fiscal equalization grant, 2 billion 679 million from the federal conditional grant, 213 million 3647 thousand from the federal revenue sharing, 353 million 35 thousand from the provincial government fiscal equalization grant, and 1 billion 683 million from the provincial conditional grant. 500 million 35 million 72 thousand and the provincial revenue share is 44 million 11 thousand rupees.
Similarly, the federal and provincial complementary special grant is 40 million 59 million, local revenue share is 180 million and 330 million 665 thousand rupees from the internal income of the municipality have been kept as sources to meet the expenses.
It is stated that 30 million 93 million 57 thousand will be met from the savings of the current fiscal year and 340 million from the social security grant. Khanal said that under the upcoming budget heading program, 340 million rupees have been allocated for social security programs, 180 million rupees for the water supply governance and infrastructure promotion program, matching fund, Bheri pumping project operation management and cooperation, 160 million rupees for ward-level plans and programs and 145 million rupees for the operation of various branch-level municipal projects and programs.
Earlier, Mayor Mohan Maya Dhakal presented the policy and program in the municipal assembly. In the policies and programs presented, she said that the programs that have been prioritized include the declaration of a sub-metropolitan city, a 'knowledge bank' for skills and capabilities, an educational reform year and AI education, a digital teacher bank, a scholarship fund of Rs 20 million, additional grants to agricultural entrepreneurs, land should not be left fallow, startups, incubation and tax exemptions, special tourist areas and digital apps, free services for pregnant women, 'Manko Chautari' for mental health, a city free of street children, integrated city buses and sky bridges, and additional funds in daughter savings accounts.
