In the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84, the Karnali government has prioritized the agriculture and animal husbandry sector. For which, Rs 330 million has been allocated for commercialization of agriculture and Rs 80 million for animal husbandry and breeding programs.
Presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Rajib Bikram Shah said that Rs 120 million has been allocated for sheep and goat farming in the Himalayan region. Similarly, Rs 40 million has been allocated for fish farming in Surkhet.
He informed that Rs 192.2 million has been allocated for the 'One Village, One Fruit Garden' program. Similarly, he said that Rs 19.6 million will be provided for the modernization of agriculture and 100 percent interest subsidy will be provided to farmers farming in areas of more than 5 hectares. For which Rs 70 million has been allocated.
Shah informed that Rs 70 million has been allocated for cotton cultivation in Surkhet and Mugu. According to him, Rs 40 million has been allocated for the livelihood program for the poor citizens, while Rs 96 million has been allocated for the youth-oriented agriculture program.
