A group has attacked an ambulance from Kumakh Rural Municipality in Salyan that was carrying a patient from Chaurjahari in Rukum West to Nepalgunj. A group of people attacked an ambulance bearing the number 02.001 Jha 0138 of Kumakh Rural Municipality at around 10 pm last night at Ramghat Bazaar near Chhinchun in Surkhet.
Driver Basanta Sharma said that a group of eight/nine youths vandalized the ambulance and beat him up. 'I ran away after my life was in danger,' he said. The attackers vandalized the ambulance after the driver fled. The reason for vandalizing the ambulance and beating the driver has not been revealed.
Driver Sharma said that the youths who were drunk blocked the road and stopped the ambulance and attacked it. He informed that the attack damaged the rear part and body of the ambulance. According to him, he called the police after the attack and the attackers fled before the police could arrive at the scene.
He informed that despite being beaten up and the ambulance being vandalized, the patient was safely taken to Nepalgunj. He has demanded action against those who attacked him while he was taking the patient.
Meanwhile, Police Inspector Purna Bahadur KC, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Salyan, said that although the incident was in Surkhet district, it has been revealed that the attack was carried out by a youth who had consumed alcohol. He said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
