The death case of 16-year-old Inisha BK of Birendranagar Municipality-1 has reached the provincial assembly. MPs have expressed serious concern in the Karnali provincial assembly, saying that the truth has not been made public even after 13 days of the incident.
In the Karnali provincial assembly meeting on Thursday, MPs raised questions about the delay in the investigation. NCP MP Ransinh Pariyar objected to the delay in the investigation, suspecting that it was a rape and murder.
He said, ‘Why is the investigation being delayed? Why is the state not serious about such incidents against Dalits and women?’ He warned the government to conduct a speedy and transparent investigation and not to allow the investigation to be influenced based on access. ‘If the incident is diverted, there will be a strong response from the parliament,’ he warned.
NCP MP Urmila Bishwakarma said that state bodies should be responsible for bringing the culprits to justice. She said, ‘The relevant bodies should be serious to ensure an environment where daughters can live safely and with dignity. If the victims do not get justice in the provincial capital, what can they expect in rural areas?’
Karnali Chief Minister Yamalal Kadel has also expressed his views on the incident through Parliament. He denied the accusation that he had pressured Inisha Bik’s family and said that some YouTubers were spreading confusion on social media. Chief Minister Kandel claimed that the issue of consoling the victim’s family as the head of the government was distorted.
