Rudra Bahadur Pun of Kharik, Bangad Kupinde Municipality-3, Bame, has been making the same demand to candidates and leaders who campaign for every election since 2064. Candidates have also expressed commitment to his demand.

Some even became ministers after winning the elections, but their demands have not been fulfilled yet. Drinking water is not only theirs but also the common demand of the residents of Kharik, Banjkot, Harle, Jamune, and Boharagaun in Ward 3. As the water in the spring on the hill is drying up, the residents of various settlements in Bame have been suffering for drinking water.

Since there has been a water problem since the past, the locals of Kharik, Harle, Banjkot, Jamune, and Boharagaun in Bame had demanded a lift drinking water system. As the demand was not met, the local women still have to walk for almost an hour from the settlement to get a jug of water. As the water in the spring is drying up, the women of the settlement have to carry water from a distance.

The locals, who have been suffering for water since the past, have demanded a lift drinking water system from the new candidate. A few years ago, a DPR was also made stating that it would cost Rs 40 million to provide drinking water to various settlements in Ward 3. After the budget could not be arranged for years after the DPR was made, the locals were forced to demand drinking water again.

They have also expressed their commitment to help those who bring drinking water to the households of the settlements in the elections. Nearly 200 families from various settlements have been affected due to the drinking water problem. Some families have even been displaced due to the water problem. 'I have been making demands to Tek Bahadur Basnet, Prakash Jwala, Bhim Prakash Sharma, Gulab Jung Shah during elections for a decade and a half. Those same leaders won elections repeatedly. After winning, they did not show much interest. "I don't believe that the new ones will fulfill their demands after winning," says Rudra Bahadur Pun of Kharik. "Votes are needed in elections, and they go door to door looking for voters and make various promises. After winning, they forget everything and never come back." Birmi Pun, 49, said that due to the drinking water problem in the settlement, where no plan has been implemented since the past, she had to walk for half an hour to an hour for a jug of water. She complains that she is lagging behind as the leaders are implementing various plans only in the areas they control. She says, "Many springs around the settlement are drying up. During the rainy season, there is no problem. It is very difficult from Chaitra to Asar. Sometimes, you have to go down to the river to get water." She said that this time, she will support those who can arrange drinking water in their homes in the election.

Tek Bahadur Pun of Banjkot said that there is a problem of drinking water in his settlement. He said that despite making many demands, no one has fulfilled it. ‘A few years ago, a DPR for lift drinking water was prepared after making repeated demands. It was seen that 40 million rupees would be required to operate the scheme. So far, the local, provincial and federal governments have not been able to arrange the budget. Due to which the drinking water problem of the settlement residents remains the same,’ he said.

Ward Chairman Dhan Bahadur Pun said that the leaders have not shown interest in budget management since 40 million rupees would be required for the construction of the scheme according to the DPR. He said that the local level has not been able to allocate the budget because the amount is large.
