6 drivers arrested for driving recklessly in Surkhet

Six people have been arrested in Surkhet for driving under the influence of drugs.

The District Police Office, Surkhet, has informed that they were found driving under the influence of drugs during an investigation in Birendranagar Municipality-11 on Monday.

They were taken into custody after a drug test confirmed that they were under the influence, informed District Police Spokesperson DSP Mohan Jung Budhapa.

The police have taken into custody Ajay Thapa, 28, of Birgunj Metropolitan City-8, Parsa, 25, Kasiram Dangi, and 25, of Birendranagar-11, Surkhet, Hikmat Shahi, 24, of Chamunda Bindrasaini Municipality-7, Dailekh, Jeevan Shahi, 25, of the same place, and Dil Bahadur BK, 25, of Gurans Rural Municipality-4.

They were found to be under the influence of drugs during an investigation by a joint team of the District Police and Traffic Police Office, Surkhet. Surkhet Police has started using test kits to identify drug users since last week.

District Police Surkhet SP Sudhir Raj Shahi said that since last Sunday, suspicious persons have been identified using kits due to complaints of increased drug trafficking and users in Karnali.
