Police have seized 46 loaded guns that were illegally hidden by locals in various places in Salyan from November to January.
Based on confidential information, 46 loaded guns were recovered from Bangad Kupinde Municipality 10, 11, 12, Tribeni Rural Municipality 1 Kavra, Ward 5 Shanti Community Forest 6 and other municipalities, said District Police Chief Dr. Hem Bahadur KC.
He said that none of the seized guns had a license. According to him, locals have been using loaded guns for hunting and had hidden them in the forest because they would be found at home. He said that some of the seized guns were in a state of unusability.
He informed that only two people had surrendered their licensed guns during the upcoming elections, even though the District Administration Office Salyan had informed them. Although the illegally hidden loaded guns belonged to locals, only one person was arrested and he has been released on bail, he said.
