The competition, organized by the North West Division Headquarters, will include long and short distance races and walking. According to the Division's head, Dipesh Jung Shah, the program has been organized with the aim of developing the sports sector, which is established as a strong pillar of social unity and national identity, and strengthening the relationship between citizens and soldiers.
Pritanapati Shah said, ‘With the slogan of ‘Strong Unity, Safe Nation’, a five-kilometer walk has been included to a 10-kilometer walk.’ Employees working in government offices, people’s representatives of the provincial and local levels, interested general ranks of the Nepali Army, representatives of various organizations and former security personnel will participate in the five-kilometer run.
The 10-kilometer run will be a men’s and women’s race for the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force. Girls from grades 8 to 12 from military residential colleges, empanelled schools and NCC training will participate in the 5-kilometer run.
The army expects about 800 participants in the open men’s and open women’s races. The first, second and third place finishers in various races will receive city awards and certificates.
