The increasing cold weather along with the snowfall has affected the lives of the people of Jumla. As the winter progresses, the water in the drinking water taps has turned solid. The cold has started to burst the water pipes.

The citizens of this place have been suffering more after the supply of drinking water stopped. Sunita Budha, a local of Chandannath Municipality, said that the bitter cold has started to cause great suffering to the citizens during the winter season. As the cold increases in Magh, the lives of the citizens of Mugu, Humla and Dolpa in Upper Karnali, including Jumla, have become difficult.

The minimum temperature in Jumla has dropped to minus 0.71 degrees Celsius. The weather is likely to worsen for three days, informed Ashampura Karki, Chief of the Hydrology and Meteorology Office, Jumla. 'The cold continues to increase,' said Chief Karki, 'It has become very cold after the snowfall. The lives of the citizens are becoming very difficult.' According to the Chief of the Office, Karki, until the bitter cold subsides, the daily life of the Himalayan residents, especially in the morning and evening, will become even more difficult. 

The Khalanga Drinking Water Consumers Committee office has stated that it is providing drinking water service to more than 22,000 citizens through about 2,050 consumers.  

Farmers are happy with snowfall

Farmers here are happy with snowfall in Jumla and other districts of Upper Karnali. Lanka Budha, a local resident of Tila Rural Municipality-1, Jumla, informed that the first snowfall of this year in the second week of Magh will be very good for the winter crops planted by farmers.

Ram Bhakta Adhikari, Chief of the Agricultural Development Office, Jumla, said that the snowfall in Jumla during this winter season has brought great relief to the winter crops planted by farmers.

Farmers here say that it is time to plant new apple seedlings.  The hills of Jumla have turned white after the snowfall. After snowfall after a long time, the locals here are busy taking photos and videos with the snow.

Local farmers have felt relief after the winter crops that had been drying up due to the lack of snowfall for a long time have received relief. This will benefit winter crops including wheat, barley, and potatoes, according to the Agricultural Development Office, Jumla. The Civil Aviation Office, Jumla, has stated that the air service that was disrupted due to snowfall has been operational since Sunday.
