The Provincial Police Office has placed 441 polling stations out of 351 polling stations in 10 districts of Karnali on a highly sensitive list for the February 21 election to the House of Representatives.

Out of 1,437 polling stations in Karnali, 301 have been placed on the general list and 651 on the sensitive list. According to Provincial Police Chief DIG Madhav Prasad Shrestha, preparations are underway to mobilize 14,719 police personnel across the province for the election.

‘Not only in remote and mountainous districts, but also where influential leaders have contested the election, there will be some challenges,’ he said. ‘This time, we are preparing to place all polling stations in government offices.’ He said that plans are also being made to install CCTV cameras at polling stations.

DIG Shrestha said that preparations are being made keeping in mind the problems that may arise in conducting elections and bringing ballot boxes due to the poor road conditions in some places in Karnali.
