The Karnali Province Police Office has put into operation a 15-bed hospital. Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamalal Kandel inaugurated it on Wednesday in Birendranagar, Surkhet.
The 15-bed hospital within the Provincial Police Office will provide easy treatment services to not only the police but also the citizens, said DIG Madhav Shrestha, Chief of the Provincial Police Office. The hospital will have an internal medicine department, lab, pharmacy, minor surgery, and OPD.
According to the Provincial Police, the hospital aims to provide treatment services to the serving police officers, their dependent families, former police officers, and the general public from 10 districts of Karnali. Minister for Social Development Ghanshyam Bhandari said that he was happy to see that the Nepal Police, which is the vehicle of the crisis, is not only active in rescue and relief but also in the health treatment of the citizens.
Chief Minister of Karnali Province Kandel said that since it is an organization connected to the people, the services provided here will be meaningful. "Considering the increasing population density in Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province, it is necessary to provide diversified services in the health sector," he said. "I am happy to see that despite the lack of other structures of the Nepal Police, they are providing services keeping in mind a complex issue like health."
