Among the nine local levels in the district, Raskot Municipality has been generating the highest internal revenue.
In the administrative and commercial center of Raskot, RCP Bazaar in the Provincial Assembly Constituency 'K' of Kalikot, the 39 concrete shutters owned by the municipality generate more than 100,000 rupees per month.

Raskot Municipality Mayor Dharmaraj Shahi said that the municipality is working by giving priority to the education, health and agriculture sectors.
Mayor Shahi said that the municipality is providing services to 3 MBBS doctors at Raskot Hospital. He claimed that the school has been provided with additional facilities to teach in English medium from grade 1 in community schools. Raskot Municipality has succeeded in collecting 12.28 million rupees as internal revenue last year. The annual internal income of the other 8 local levels of Kalikot is between 15 and 45 million rupees.
According to the Raskot Municipality Office, last year, Rs 1,472,207 was collected as house tax. Land tax was Rs 1,544,673, other taxes were Rs 2,173,600, business tax was Rs 1,39,800, other revenue was Rs 350,470, business registration was Rs 30,601, and other fees were Rs 95,760.
Similarly, Rs 2,6550 was collected from personal incident registration, Rs 9,000 was collected from relationship certification, Rs 14,942 was collected from recommendation fees, Rs 2,41,700 was collected from other administrative service fees, Rs 7,300 was collected from examination fees, and Rs 6,900 was collected from education sector income.
Similarly, the municipality has reported that it has been successful in collecting revenue under other service charges and sales headings of Rs 50,046,650, revenue from the sale of agricultural products of Rs 43,310, tax levied on the trade of agricultural and livestock products of Rs 27,742, and property tax of Rs 53,817.
Tanka Thapa, Head of Treasury and Accounts Control, said that since the district has few internal revenue sources, the income of the municipalities has also been low. ‘Raskot seems to have earned a good income by renting out shutters.’ The Khadachakra Municipality, the headquarters, also does not seem to have collected revenue due to the market area and rental tax,’ he said. According to him, the Khadachakra Municipality, the headquarters, which has the highest internal revenue after Raskot, has collected only Rs 4,433,190 in revenue annually.
Similarly, Narharinath Rural Municipality has collected 35 lakh 10 thousand 332, Shubhakalika Rural Municipality, which has valuable kinet, 27 lakh 180, Sannitriveni Rural Municipality 11 lakh 18 thousand 646, Mahabai Rural Municipality 14 lakh 41 thousand 877, Tilagufa Municipality 10 lakh 76 thousand 732, and Pachaljharana Rural Municipality 8 lakh 49 thousand 158 in non-tax revenue. Palata Rural Municipality has an annual internal income of only 6 lakh 15 thousand 903 rupees.
Deputy Mayor Maniraj Baral said that in Raskot, it has made it mandatory for all citizens to have a bank account at Global IME and Rastriya Banijya Bank branches and is practicing home distribution of social security allowance to the disabled, handicapped and senior citizens. He said that the municipality is also taking initiatives to establish an area administration for services including citizenship.
