The district headquarters, Simkot, has been in darkness for four days. The electricity supply has been cut off after a fault occurred at the only Hildum hydroelectric distribution center in the district headquarters but could not be repaired.
All work that relies on electricity has been affected due to the lack of other power sources. Although some government offices have installed solar panels, there is a problem even with charging mobile phones as there is not much sunlight during the winter.
Mediaperson Narjung Tamang said that there is a problem with news collection and transmission as mobile phones and laptops cannot be charged. Jitendra Shah, the chief engineer of the distribution center, said that the power distribution has been stopped due to the need for repair work on the power house and other structures of the Hildum Power Distribution Center, which has been supplying electricity to the district headquarters Simkot and Kharpunath rural municipality.
